What it is

The ash-plains wake at dusk. You are the Emberwright, a fire-mage with a lantern-topped staff, and the burnt rise from the ground to swarm you until dawn. Your spells cast on their own: you move, dodge and choose how to grow. Every level brings a choice of new skills and upgrades, and every few minutes something far worse walks out of the ash.

Cinderwake is in the spirit of Vampire Survivors and classic action RPGs, with real-time 3D graphics (WebGPU, with a WebGL fallback), its own world, enemies and bosses.

How to play

Skills

Cinder Bolt, Ash Nova, Wardstones, Arc Lash, Kindling and Flame Wake: fireballs, shockwaves, orbiting stones, chain lightning and burning ground, each with ranks that change how it plays.

Gear

Bosses and rare enemies drop gear: lanterns that hang from your staff, foci that shape your spells and charms that change the rules, from soul-wisps that circle you to a coin that calls every shard on the map.

Enemies

Husk and Skitter
The shambling burnt and the darting things that run between them.
Kindler
Swells and bursts into fire when it reaches you, or takes its neighbours with it if you kill it first.
Bulwark
A slab of armour that slams the ground ahead of it.
Cinder Spitter
Keeps its distance and lobs embers that leave the ground burning.
Shard Thrall
A husk grown over with black glass that shatters into three crawlers when it falls.
Cindersmith
A forge-smith of cooled slag whose hammer sends cracks of fire across the ground.
Soot Wretch
Fast and low on all fours, seen by its trail of soot before its body.
Lantern Thief
Steals your XP into its birdcage head, and grows stronger the more it holds.

Magic and rare enemies come with tougher stats and modifiers: auras, meteors, charges and more.

Bosses

The Hollow Warden
A giant in scorched plate who leaps into crushing slams and drives violet shockwaves across the field.
The Twin Kilns
Two furnace golems, one of fire and one of frost, joined by a wall of flame. Bring them down together, or the survivor rekindles its twin.
